At Tongue River Marina, a black bear unexpectedly joined the summer festivities, roaming through the campground before being gently escorted away by trained staff. The marina reminds visitors to stay cautious in bear country by securing food and trash and to avoid approaching wildlife, contacting park staff if spotted.

The 1st Annual Tongue River Rib Rumble was a messy success, celebrating barbecue excellence. Pork Authority claimed 1st place, followed by Smokin Lumber in 2nd, and Meat Mafia in 3rd. The crowd awarded the People’s Choice to MasterBaiters Barbecue. Participants, judges, and sponsors made it a memorable event.

On June 27, 2026, Tongue River Marina in Decker, Montana, hosts the Rib Rumble cookoff, featuring local pitmasters competing for the title and offering family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Tongue River Marina reports 15–20 feet of open water off the ramp, with Marina Bay still mostly iced over but improving. More open water is showing from Rattlesnake south toward the mine as daytime temps warm—boat fishing could be just weeks away.

Feb. 20 update: Open water is visible near Campers Point South (from the road) and reported off Campers Point North by the pond. Warm temps, wind, and snow cover may be creating hidden weak spots and thin-ice “bridges”—use extreme caution.

Ice conditions at Tongue River Marina are unstable, with melting shoreline ice and only an inch of edge ice. Anglers are advised to exercise caution until temperatures drop and conditions improve.
