Four years ago, around this time, Bruce Stell was 67, retired and had recently gotten back into bowhunting after 15 years of only rifle hunting. Bruce had decided to get out elk hunting with his bow after a lot of shooting practice.
Well….it paid off!
Here’s part of Stell’s story that the Captain summarized in his 2013 Captain’s Column:
Stell, who had practiced for about 6 months shooting a bow to get ready for this opportunity, was in awe to be that close to a bull elk. “I couldn’t believe it was happening, and I got “Buck Fever” or “Bull Fever”, so it took a few seconds to calm my nerves and excitement down so I could concentrate on making a good shot”
This is an awesome way to start the season, as if this doesn’t motivate you, I don’t know what will!
