Canyon Ferry: A few rainbows are being caught from shore while using spawn sacks or worms throughout the reservoir. Trolling rapalas, spoons or cowbells continues to provide great action throughout the reservoir with the best spots being around White Earth and around the Cemetary Island/Yacht Basin/Outhouse areas. The rainy, unsettled weather has really put a damper on the walleye bite. Look for walleye fishing to pick back up as we get warmer, more stable weather. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
Hauser: The walleye bite on Lake Helena continues to be productive while tolling darker colored crankbaits or bottom bouncers with perch colored walleye spinners tipped with leeches or crawlers. Some nice perch are being picked up as well while tolling for walleye. Fishing from the Causeway Bridge during the late evening hours is also producing a few walleye while pitching jigs or using slip bobbers and a leech. Fly fishing from shore below Canyon Ferry Dam is still productive for rainbows and wooly buggers and leech patterns are working well. Some are catching rainbows while using spawn sacks, night crawlers and a marshmallow, or while casting panther martin spinners. Trolling cowbells or ford fenders with wedding ring style spinners and lead core line between York Bridge and Black Sandy has been producing good numbers of rainbows as well. Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
Holter: Rainbow fishing continues to be great throughout most of the reservoir. Fly fishing with midge nymphs or using spawn sacks, power bait, or nightcrawlers is still productive near the Gates of the Mountains. Departure Point has been a great spot to fish from shore while using power bait or nightcrawlers and a marshmallow. Tolling for rainbows or the occasional kokanee between Cottonwood Creek and the Dam has been popular while using cowbells or dodgers tipped with a spinner, or a wooly bugger. Some anglers are using downriggers to get these flashers to fish 30 to 40 feet below the surface, other are having luck while using lead core line. A few walleye and perch are being caught throughout the reservoir while vertical jigging around weed beds with various jigs tipped with leeches. Some anglers are catching some nice perch while pitching smaller jigs and crawlers from the docks around the BLM boat ramp near the Dam. Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
