MILES CITY – Stage 1 fire restrictions placed on lands in Big Horn County managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks are now lifted.
Big Horn County rescinded Stage 1 fire restrictions effective Sept. 11. FWP follows the county’s lead in placing or lifting fire restrictions on its properties within a particular county, so campfires again are allowed at the following FWP properties in designated campfire rings:
- Grant Marsh Wildlife Management Area
- Arapooish FAS
- Bighorn Fishing Access Site (FAS)
- General Custer FAS
- Grant Marsh FAS
- Mallard’s Landing FAS
- Two Leggins FAS
- Chief Plenty Coups State Park
- Rosebud Battlefield State Park
- Tongue River Reservoir State Park
Under Stage I restrictions, campfires are prohibited unless an exemption is made, and smoking is limited to certain areas.
FWP urges people to continue to use caution while recreating due to dry conditions and fire danger.
