Dust off your predator calls and gear up, because the 2026 12th Annual Winnett/Grass Range Coyote Derby is heading back to the Wrangler Bar in Grass Range this December 11–13! According to event contact Cody Martinez, this year’s hunt is shaping up to be the biggest one to date, so you definitely want to get it on your calendar now!
Whether you’re a seasoned night-owl caller or a daytime hunter, the derby has a bracket for every skill level across its statewide reach:
- Advanced Division ($300/team): Open for 1 to 3-person teams who can hunt around the clock (24 hours a day). Features $500 in added money, payouts for the top 3 places, and $40 side pots for Big Dog, Little Dog, and Lucky Dog.
- Intermediate Division ($200/team): Daytime-only hunting for 1 to 3-person teams. Includes $500 in added money, top 3 payouts, and $20 side pots for Big Dog, Little Dog, and Lucky Dog.
Event Schedule & Key Rules
- Registration: Friday, December 11th, from 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM at the Wrangler Bar, followed immediately by the rules meeting and the Calcutta auction (teams must stay until their division finishes auctioning!).
- Check-In: Sunday, December 13th at 2:00 PM.
- Strict Rules: Calling only! No trapping, airplanes, snowmobiles, shotguns, decoy dogs, or bait piles allowed. ATVs and side-by-sides are permitted for transportation only, and all coyotes will be temperature checked.
Cash, Door Prizes & Guns
Outside of the main hunt payouts, there is over $2,000 in door prizes up for grabs. Plus, don’t miss the high-odds raffle featuring at least 8 guns valued at $1,000 each! Raffle tickets are $20 a pop, structured around a deck of cards (only 52 tickets sold per gun). Once a deck sells out, that gun raffle closes. There’s no limit on how many tickets you can buy or prizes you can walk away with.
