Witness images show white flatbed truck at scene
BILLINGS – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks game wardens are looking for tips from the public on at least one deer shot with a rifle on private property in the South Hills outside Billings. The incident took place off Hillcrest Road between Billings and Pryor on the evening of Sept. 20.
Witnesses reported seeing two occupants of a white flatbed truck shoot at least one deer on the private property. The witnesses obtained video and images of the truck and occupants from a distance.
“We appreciate the immediate, accurate reporting from the witnesses to this incident. Their quick response and footage from the scene will be vital in the investigation,” said FWP game warden Diego O’Brien.
From witness statements and evidence at the scene, it’s believed the deer was unlawfully killed with a firearm on the private property and landowner permission was not obtained. Additionally, rifle hunting for deer in this area does not begin until Oct. 24. The vehicle and its occupants were last seen heading towards Pryor.
FWP wardens are interested in hearing from anyone with information on the incident, specifically identification of the white truck or suspects. Anyone with possible information about this incident is asked to call the local game warden at 406-428-8700, call 1-800-TIP-MONT, or visit tipmont.mt.gov to provide details. Those who report information may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
