The kayak fishing world just had its own little Watergate…or maybe “Yakgate” fits better. According to a recent article via Outdoor Life, one guy, Jacob Housman, decided paddling was overrated and faked his way through a New York Kayak Bass Fishing tournament by slapping a cutout kayak seat onto his bass boat and snapping “proof” pictures of his catches. It worked long enough for him to win $200, until some other anglers and a YouTuber connected the dots (and the identical fish pics). Housman confessed, paid the money back, and is now banned for life from pretty much every kayak tournament on the planet. He did apologize, though (see below).

Moral of the story: cheaters never prosper…especially when the internet is full of detectives.
