Here’s the quick scoop from the Macman: Ice is holding in some areas, with Browns Lake at about 10 inches and Upper Thompson around 6 — but remember, no ice is truly safe. Lake Mary Ronan and the Flathead River sloughs are in good shape, and colder temps should help conditions. McGregor Lake hosts a tournament next weekend with both ice and open water in play. For open water anglers, Yellow Bay has been productive past 200 feet — just avoid Rocky Point due to gill netting. Fishing’s been good overall — just watch your footing.
