Spring is beginning to loosen winter’s grip at Tongue River Reservoir, but conditions, according to a recent post by FWP, on the water are still a mixed bag. Ice is gradually breaking up across the lake, creating limited boating access while several areas remain locked up. Here’s the latest ice and access update for Tongue River Reservoir to help anglers and visitors plan their trips.

Lake update: There is open water at both ramps and a handful of boats have been out on the lake. There is still ice at the dam (all of north area), between Sand Point and Pee Wee north, and at the south end beyond Rattlesnake Point. You cannot get beyond the ice between PN and Sand Point, so boating is limited to the north and to the south to just Campers Pt, PWS, PN, Rattlesnake Pt. The ice may melt fast, however.

The marina will not be open until April. The park sells annual passes at the park office now, but all licenses are online or in Sheridan, WY.

Rosebud Battlefield State Park is open, with no snow currently.
