A project that will improve facilities at Weigh Station Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Blackfoot River near Bonner begins this week.

Construction crews will enhance the site’s entry road, install a designated parking area with spaces for vehicles and boat trailers, and add a concrete boat ramp and latrine. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) says that the project will be completed within 60-days and in time for the busy fishing and floating season on the lower Blackfoot.

The boat ramp and portions of the site will frequently be unusable during this time, and FWP encourages boaters and others to avoid using Weigh Station.  During construction, Wisherd Bridge, five miles upstream, is the last trailer accessible take-out on the Blackfoot.

To keep updated on the project, check out FWP Region 2 web page at fwp.mt.gov/regions/r2/, call 406-542-5500, or watch for signs posted at access spots along the lower Blackfoot River.
