The Smith River State Park and River Corridor will re-open to the public from Camp Baker to Eden Bridge, effective Thursday, July 11.

The state park had been closed for public safety reasons for several days due to black bear activity at several campsites.

FWP and USDA Wildlife Services have coordinated on the efforts to remove the bears and have determined that the park can re-open. Staigmiller campsite will remain closed.

Visitors are reminded to keep their camps clean at all times and keep tents and sleeping bags free of odors and attractants. Avoid cooking foods that have a distinct odor and secure food and garbage away from sleeping areas. The use of bear-resistant containers is highly recommended.
