Jason Maxwell and Angela Montana are trappin fools! They each trapped their first raccoons of their lives and of the season last week.
Jason, VP West of the Montana Trappers Association, ended up with a large-medium coon hide that was stretched to 24-inches, after being skinned, while Angela Montana’s coon hide ended up being in the 3XL category at 33-inches. Toby Walrath, the President of the Montana Trappers Association, showed the newbie trappers how to skin the animals and prepare the hide to sell at a fur sale. Angela Montana, however, changed her mind, early on, and decided to turn hers into a coonskin hat, rather than sell the hide.
It was a messy job, but they got it done! Angela Montana even ended up keeping one of the hands to turn into a ceiling fan pull chain thingamabob…which might be a little weird, but she is still pretty stoked about it.
