Kirkwood Resort and Marina shared the following fishing report on April 20th:
Still ice fishing on Hebgen Lake…lots of ice left, but the warmer weather is softening the snow crust on top so it will be getting very slushy. This coming week is the first one this year that has the nighttime low forecast above freezing! Highs will be getting into the 50’s this week. Ice fishing continues around the lake, especially at the Narrows and at the dam. There is open water down the Madison Arm up to about Edward’s Peninsula where they have started hiking in from Horse Butte to fly fish. No other open water yet on the lake but the shoreline will probably start opening up within about 2 weeks. Once the ice recedes from shore about 20-30 feet, popular Hebgen ice-out fishing begins! Should be in full force by Mother’s Day weekend.
