The comment period for no-wake zones on Canyon Ferry ends March 29. At its February meeting, the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission approved the extension of public comment for a proposal for no-wake zones on the north end of Canyon Ferry Reservoir.

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks recommended no-wake zones in the area last fall. After receiving input from the public, FWP offered an alternative proposal in February that would achieve the same goals as the original proposal while responding to concerns raised by the public.

The alternative creates a 200-foot no-wake zone of the north end of Canyon Ferry Reservoir, starting at Kayley Bay on the north shoreline and ending at Crittenden on the south shoreline.

Comments can be submitted online or by mail to FWP’s Enforcement Division, Attn: Phil Kilbreath, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, Montana, 59620-0701; or e-mailed to pkilbreath@mt.gov.
