YNP FUEL SPILL!!!
By Montana Grant

A Gasoline truck wrecked and spilled its load! It is the biggest oil spill in 20 years. Certainly not good for the park, but no one was injured. As if the fire near Old Faithful was not enough.

The area between Fishing Bridge and the Mud Volcano is closed until cleanup and repairs can be made. You can reach the Hayden Valley from Canyon Village but would need to trace your steps to get back.

The Gasoline truck was towing a smaller trailer of fuel that tipped over and spilled 3,000 gallons of gasoline onto the road and ditch.

Park Officials are cleaning up the mess. The section of road has been torn up along with any contaminated soil. A hole 100 feet wide, 100 feet long and 10 feet deep is being disposed of. Once the contaminated soil is removed, the hole will be refilled and the road repaired. The work should be finished within a week or so.

The gas was being hauled to a Park gas station.
