Bozeman, MT- March 29, 2023 —Zac Fisher recently started as the new Deputy District Ranger for the Bozeman Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest.

“We are excited that Zac has joined our team in the Deputy District Ranger position” said Mary Erickson, Custer Gallatin Forest Supervisor.  “This is a new leadership position that has been added to support the Bozeman Ranger District and the Custer Gallatin National Forest, and Zac is already making positive contributions,” continued Erickson.

Zac has been the Deputy District Ranger on the Bozeman Ranger District since February, 2023.  Prior to his time on the Custer Gallatin Forest, Zac was the Watershed Program Manager for the Land Between the Lakes NRA in western Kentucky and began his career with the Forest Service as a Soil Scientist on the Medicine Bow-Routt NFs and Thunder Basin Grassland based out of the Laramie Ranger District in Laramie, Wyoming. Prior to his time with the Forest Service, Zac was a Soil Conservationist for the NRCS in Rhode Island and also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.  “I am excited for the opportunity to work in such a diverse landscape as the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and to help steward the public lands of the Custer Gallatin National Forest. I am also thrilled to join such a dynamic and passionate team, their dedication to serving our community and caring for the land is a daily inspiration,” said Zac Fisher.
