RED LODGE – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks has issued an emergency closure for Silver Run Wildlife Management Area (WMA) near Red Lodge due to grizzly bear activity, effective immediately.
FWP is actively working to trap a conflict grizzly bear at the WMA. Due to capture techniques and the use of bait to hopefully draw the bear to the site, the WMA is currently unsafe for public use. The food-conditioned grizzly bear has been involved in conflicts in the Red Lodge area for several years and poses a threat to public safety.
The closure will remain in place until further notice.
