Here’s some news from a state that starts with M, but it isn’t Montana.
A recent press release by Maryland Department of Natural Resources revealed a new state record for rainbow trout in the Nontidal Division was set by Jean-Philippe Lartigue of Bethesda. Lartigue landed a 17.44-pound rainbow trout in Antietam Creek at Devil’s Backbone County Park on February 10. Fishing with a 12-foot crappie-style rod and natural bait, Lartigue fought the fish for 30 minutes before landing it. The catch, verified by DNR’s John Mullican, surpassed the previous record by over 3 pounds! The Maryland DNR encourages anglers with potential record catches to submit applications promptly for verification.
