$27,000 for feeding bears and coyotes: Fair fine or too steep?

A man in British Columbia was hit with a $27,000 penalty for intentionally feeding bears and coyotes near a popular walking trail and homes.

Conservation officers say he placed food at three bait sites over multiple days, even though he knew feeding dangerous wildlife was prohibited.

The penalty: $18,000 for feeding or attempting to feed dangerous wildlife and another $9,000 for leaving attractants accessible.
