After a morning of hiking and chasing mule deer with no luck, a snowstorm sent them home for a quick break. But later that day, they headed out to a friend’s place, and Colt nailed a beautiful whitetail with a perfect 60-yard shot from his .243—dropping it instantly! Colt’s reaction? “mom, when you shoot at a deer your gun doesn’t kick.” Gotta love that adrenaline rush! It’s been a memorable year for this mom-son duo, with Colt getting his first turkey this spring and now tagging his first buck.
