What started as a payout delay has escalated into a fraud lawsuit against American Bass Anglers—and now it looks like a bigger legal storm may be brewing. We recently reported on MontanaOutdoor.com that several anglers never received their prize money after an ABA tournament, with the organization blaming banking issues. But in a new update from OutdoorLife.com, two fishermen are now suing the ABA, and their attorney says more than 40 other anglers have come forward with similar stories of bounced checks—some dating back to February. One angler is still waiting on $12,000, despite being promised a wire transfer. The attorney claims the ABA may only be paying out half of what it collects in entry fees and says a class-action lawsuit could be next. ABA has since switched to cash-only payouts, but the damage may already be done.
