Boaters heading toward Fourchette Bay might find a surprise guest blocking their path
According to the USACE, last night’s high winds were a bit too much for the local infrastructure. The courtesy dock apparently developed a case of wanderlust and drifted directly across the boat ramp, effectively putting a “closed” sign on the water access.
- Status: The ramp is currently unusable.
- The Culprit: High winds and a dock that refused to stay put.
- The Fix: USACE crews are working to corral the runaway dock, but for now, boaters will need to find an alternative launch site.
When they were asked an approximation of when it will be functional again, USACE responded with, “Given the wind predictions it will not likely be moved this week.”
Updates will be provided as soon as the dock is back in its designated spot and the ramp is clear for use. Until then, it looks like the bay is strictly for the birds.
