Don Wilkins’ Weekly Fort Peck Fishing Report 10.01.26

Pike- very good fishing over shallow weed beds with spoons or top water lures right now. Trolling crankbaits in 15-35 feet is still picking up lots of nice fish also. Best areas have been weed beds that have 6-10 FOW over the tops of them

Smallmouth- fish are biting most of the day and we started to find some decent schools of nicer fish together in 20-30 feet. 1/4 ounce jigs and minnows or slip bobbers and minnows worked the best for us. Just about any prominent point with deeper rocks had fish on it

Lake trout-  you’ll find them where you find them right now. Some fish are still deep and some are starting to move towards the shallower spawning areas. We caught some in 140 feet and some 100 this past weekend. As the water continues to cool more and more fish will be in the 80-50 foot range in the next couple weeks

Salmon-lots of fish in the bays now and snagging season has started on October 1. Fish and Game is also out shocking for their egg take so if you see them out please give them plenty of room to do their jobs
