The following report is by Flint Creek Outdoors in Philipsburg, MT:
Fishing on Georgetown Lake has picked up as fall approaches, and the cooler nights are really starting to wake things up. Kokanee and brook trout are staging in front of the pump house, and both species are becoming more aggressive as the spawn nears. Leech patterns and egg imitations are the top producers here, especially when fished low and slow. Target fish in the 6-9 feet of water range.
Here are a few tips for fly fishing Georgetown Lake:
1. A balanced leech stripped or under an indicator is the best method right now.
2. Stripping a wooly bugger or an egg under an indicator
3. Cover water and be methodical and you’ll catch fish!
Here are a few fly suggestions:
1. Damsel nymph, 12-14
2. Black Wooly bugger, 10-12
3. Maroon balanced leech, 10-12
4. Ice cream cone head chironomid, 12-14
