Outdoor sports require energy. Motorboats, 4-wheel drives, wheelers, bikes, generators, and so much more requires gasoline, diesel, solar, or batteries/electric. It’s crazy that when we are around water, no ecofriendly fuel is available.

The most abundant fuel for the future is Hydrogen. There is finally newer groundbreaking technology that could cause an energy shift away from electric and less efficient fuels. Solar and wind may still help supplement fuel needs, but Hydrogen could take over the energy industry.

I have told the story of when I encountered a farmer fueling up his tractor with buckets of water. As a teen, I was trout fishing at Deer Creek in Maryland when the farmer pulled up to the hole that I was fishing. He put a funnel in his gas tank and filled it up with river water. I asked what he was doing, and he claimed that he had designed an engine that burned Hydrogen. His engine separated H2O into Oxygen and Hydrogen. The exhaust was O2 and steam. He told me that Shell Oil Co. had bought his patent and he could only use his design on his farm. That was in 1970.

Toyota seems to have designed a water powered engine the combusts hydrogen. The engine separates hydrogen from oxygen then recombines them in a fuel cell to create electricity. Water is the only exhaust.

This development could drastically reduce the world’s carbon footprint. Economically, the cost of water powered vehicles could be more expensive, but fuel costs would be way lower. In the long run, water engines could change how we use energy in a clean and efficient way.

A Hydrogen Powered culture has been a dream. This technology could also be used in homes and businesses. Hydrogen Fuel Cells could energize our future energy needs. Water treatment operations may be able to use partially treated sewage/wastewater for energy. This could completely remove any other chemicals from used water, while heating, cooling, and powering our transportation needs. Hydrogen jet engines could be used in aircraft.

Imagine boaters never running out of fuel, for free! A bucket of water could run the generators, off road rides, and our tow vehicles. Using partially treated water may allow you to get paid at the pump for using water that needs to be completely treated. Using this chemically filled water would be cleaned by the users that get paid to finish the job.

It’s still early but water powered engines is becoming an energy option.
