Fishing Fort Peck: Don Wilkins’ Winning Strategies

Fishing Fort Peck: Don Wilkins’ Winning Strategies

High winds have Fort Peck heavily churned up, with main lake water temps sitting between the mid-50s and low 60s. Despite the rough conditions, the bite is on if you adapt. Here is Don Wilkins’ exact depth and presentation blueprint for targeting walleye, pike, and lake trout right now, as of June 11, 2026.

Walleyebottom bouncers with a slow death hook and a half crawler and a jig and crawler have been working well. 15-20 FOW

Northern Pikecasting spoons and crankbaits near weed beds in 10-15 FOW  is producing some good numbers of fish. Trolling deeper diving crankbaits from 15-35 feet is also catching some fish.

Lake Troutsome fair numbers of fish coming through on flats and main lake points in 70-95 FOW. We’ve been keeping our jigs 10-15 feet off the bottom and waiting for the more aggressive fish to come off the bottom for us.

Lots of wind again this week has the lake pretty churned up quite a bit .Water temps out on the main have ranged from low 60’s to mid 50’s
