By Matt Schauer

Well, we are finally here! The opening of archery season in Montana. If you happen to bag a nice buck or a bull please send us a picture. You may send it to captain@montanaoutdoor.com

Upland bird season started Saturday too! Good luck to all the hunters, be careful it is very dry in most of the state fire danger very high.

Fishing has been slow for most of the state during the month of August but should start to pick now with colder nights and daytime temps cooling off a bit in September.

We wrapped up the Twisted Tea Fishing Photo Contest. The first two places were from out of state. First place was from Tacoma Washington, the second place photo from Pennsylvania, and the 3rd place from tiny little Geraldine, Montana. Check out the winning photos here on MontanaOutdoor.com.

Another post that got a lot of interest on MontanaOutdoor.com was the picture of Shawn Plakke holding a big horn sheep out of the water. The picture was taken when Plakke snag the sheep with his fishing lure while fishing Flathead River. After his shot he let the sheep go back to resting where he found it. It is illegal to take big horn sheep horns. Check it out on MontanaOutdoor.com

Last long holiday of the summer and it was time for our first time caller, first time winners Saturday on Kendall Four Season Subaru statewide trivia. We want to congratulate Don Lykson from Zahl North Dakota and Chad Bomar from Billings. They were are latest winners and first time winners I might add.

Have a great week!
