All-Weather Paper and Pens are a MUST-HAVE

Picture being lost in the mountains, even if you’re certain it will never happen to you, and you want to mark where you’ve been with more than string or a flag.  You want to leave a note, but you know paper and ink won’t hold up in the elements.  Well, that is no longer true!

Rite in the Rain is a company that makes “all weather” notebooks.  If you go to buy a notepad from amazon.com, you will find this in the product description:

Rite in the Rain is a truly amazing paper that is created specifically for writing field notes in all weather conditions; from the torrential downpours of the Pacific Northwest to the blistering heat and humidity of a Florida summer’s day. Excellent for boat and dive logs, hiking, student field work and all outdoor occupations. Do not flag your position with a standard white paper notebook. Instead, protect yourself and your notes by using the “Rite in the Rain” Tactical Notebooks. These spiral bound notebooks have 100 Universal pages (50 sheets) in green. With the Universal Pattern you can use this text for notes and scaled drawings. Useful reference material is also printed on the back and inside covers.

You can even write on this paper while it is submerged under water!  The 4×6 notebook I was looking at is priced just under $6.00, and it seems to me to be worth it!

And when a pencil just doesn’t cut it, get an all-weather pen, also made by Rite in the Rain.  This pen can write while upsidedown, on wet paper, and during the most extreme temperatures ranging from -30F to 250F.  Now THAT is a pen to have.  I found this for just under $11.00.
