Spending time in the outdoors is the main reason folks live in Missoula and towns all across Montana. That is why Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks are able to sell hundreds of thousands of fishing licenses every year. Whether you spend a day on a river or a lake, fishing is a fun activity to be enjoyed by young and old. This Saturday May 2nd there is a celebration going on and it is your chance to learn some tips on how to catch more fish or gain some knowledge on how to prepare meals when you camp out. The best news of all it is free. Bretz RV and Marine will once again be the host to four great seminars from experts around Montana that specialize on fishing and preparing a meal while you are camping. The free seminars kick off at 9:30am with Mike Howe from AAble Fishing Charters from Flathead Lake. Howe has fished all over Montana on hard water and open water. “I am looking forward to sharing what I have learned on how to catch trout from Hebgan Lake to Flathead Lake especially during spring when you find some of the best trout fishing in lakes around Montana”, he said. Learn how this Flathead Valley Outfitter trolls for big trout on Flathead Lake. Whatever trout species you target in spring, and whatever lake in Montana you fish, there will be something in this seminar that will help you catch more fish. “I will go over presentation, how to use your electronics, how to set-up your boat, what lures to use and more”.

Back by popular demand at 10:45 the famous Father-son jig specialists out of Helena will be talking about walleyes and trout. Trevor and his dad Kit Johnson own Kits Tackle. They have been helping anglers catch walleyes and trout with their hand painted glass minnow jigs. “This is always fun for us to see folks who are as excited about fishing as we are”, said Kit. “We have created another glass minnow jig that has been on the market for just a few months and we can’t wait to show folks photos of some of the fish that have been hooked by our new walleye frye glass minnow jig”, added Trevor. Make sure you ask them about fishing the Land of the Giants for huge trout over on the Missouri below Hauser Dam and how they did fishing big walleyes in February on Columbia River.

Learn the art of cooking in the outdoors with Paul Sidoriak during his 12pm seminar, “I am looking forward to sharing my grilling recipes and techniques that deliver healthy, tasty meals fresh off the flame while you enjoy cooking and eating in the outdoors”.

What would a day of fishing seminars be without the expert from Zimmers Tackle? The Macman, Dick Zimmer has made it a lifelong quest to try to figure out how to catch more fish and bigger fish. He is constantly creating new lures and tackle set-ups. “I just snagged a better way to catch lake trout the other day and I will show what I found out at my seminar” If you want to know the secret on how anglers during Spring Mack Days are catching more than 50 lake trout a day then his seminar at 1:15pm is for you.
