Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) invites the public to celebrate the season with Holiday Candlelight Tours at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park in December. Tickets go on sale Monday, November 28th.

Join us at Lewis & Clark Caverns to see the colorful limestone formations by the festive glow of candlelight. This guided, two mile tour takes approximately two hours to complete. Candle lanterns will be provided by the park. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will be available at the visitor center before and after the tours.

Candlelight tours are only offered in December and tour sizes are limited. This year’s tour dates are December 10th & 11th, December 17th & 18th, and December 29th and 30th. Tours are offered from 10am to 2:30pm and there are 8 tours available each day. Tickets are $20 .00 for adults (12 and Up); $8.00 for children (6 to 11). Children 5 and under are discouraged from attempting the tour. For more information call the park visitor center at (406) 287-3541.

For safety reasons, the upper half of the Caverns will be shown with the lights on. The lower half of the cave will be by candlelight. Parents need to use their own judgment if children will be comfortable in the darkness of the cave and in the outside cold temperatures.

The park road to the Cave visitor center is plowed and sanded. The trail to and from the cave is not cleared of snow. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Cave temperature is 48 degrees, outside temperature and wind can be highly variable.
