Abbi Kolstad, who grew up in Glasgow and now attends MSU in Bozeman, had success on opening day this year in Montana. She shot a huge bull elk while hunting with her dad. Here is how it happened according to Abbi, as well as a little of her history in hunting with her dad, Jon.
“I took a day off from my classes from Montana State the Friday before the Big Game opener so I could travel to make the season opener for hunting elk with my dad on Saturday.
I was fortunate to score my very first “bull” elk on the opening day as we hunted on Montana public lands. It was the best day ever!
I’ve hunted with my dad ever since I’ve been legal to hunt. I’ve hunted many species throughout the years. I’ve been fortunate enough to shoot a number of cow elk, mule deer, and a beautiful bull moose in northeastern Montana. Our family loves eating wild game, elks our favorite! My next adventure is to start bow-hunting.”
Nice work, Abbi!  What a beautiful bull!
