Hear the latest hunting and fishing news from across Big Sky country, from the recent edition of the Montana Outdoor Radio Show.
November 16th Summaries Bill Brown at Bob Wards says there’s still some hunting season left. Water fowl hunting at Freeze Out is looking good. Browns Lake is doing well from shore for fishermen. In Hamilton Bill says nymph fishing down through the rivers and big holes are doing well. Brett French Outdoor editor of the Billings Gazette talks about this week’s editorial, and possible effects the upcoming expected change in weather will have on state hunting. Chancy at Snappy’s says there’s no ice on Smith Lake yet, but pike fishing is still effective although perch fishing is slow. Whitefish are still running really good in the river by Yellowstone Bridge and Highway 35 bridge. Dale from Don’s in Lewistown says it’s still “toughman” fishing while waiting for the ice to come in. John Harris from Lakeside Resort in Trout Creek says there’s very little fishing going on the reservoir with all the available area hunting and expected incoming snow. Leonard from Robert’s Bait and Tackle talks about his elk hunt trip last week. The geese are very prolific is the area and are tree high. Mary Beth Kibler of Kibler Outfitting says the fishing is good at Hellcreek Marina and bottom bouncers are the way to go. To book and guided trip with Kibler Outfitting Thanksgiving week, call 406-557-2503 Ron Aashiem of Montana FWP says deer and elk season has been a bit spotty. For more information go to fwp.mt.gov. Shelby from Rocky Mountain Supply in Dillon says the weather hasn’t brought any snow into the immediate area. This past week there’s been a quite a few elk come through the area. Tammy from Northwest Sports in Eureka says area hunting is slow, and the storm this weekend should help, and general mountain lion hunting is closed for region 1 and 4. Reservoir fishing has been rewarding. Woody from Woody’s Lures in Townsend says the Yellowstone and Shields are doing well, more so on Shields though.
