State Section 16, a piece of land southwest of Emigrant in the Paradise Valley (approximately three miles up Big Creek), was put under emergency closure today because of grizzly bear activity in the area and the presence of a fresh elk carcass immediately adjacent to the trail.

The closure – applying to all recreational activity – is expected to last through Friday.

FWP is closely monitoring the situation.
