At the age of 80 most folks are pretty happy to take it easy, but not Les Love, of Billings. Last fall, just after celebrating his 80th birthday, Love received a patent for a plastic spinner blade he makes and went into business. His newly created Tackle With Love sells the blades at three stores, two in Montana – including Scheel’s in Billings – and one in Dickenson. He also showed his wares at the Great Rockies Sport Show. The blades can also be purchased online. Love said he used to use Mack’s Lures Smile Blades almost exclusively, but then got the idea to modify the spinner blade on the lures. Now he can crank out 1,500 of them a day in his basement workshop in about 100 different colors and four different sizes. The beauty of the blades is that they spin with almost no current. He likes to troll at about .3 mph.
