You Have Sheds…Now What?

I’ve given my my favorite taxidermy styles a lot of thought over the years, and I have concluded that I like it when I can look at my mount and be like wow…..and just looking makes my heart race. I typically like my mounts to appear how I last saw them before they became dinner, but I also love uniqueness in just about everything. So, bear with me, I came across a mount that I wasn’t sure if it was something I would want, but the more I looked at it, the more I fell in love with it.  So, now, I need to actually get good at shed hunting and maybe try something similar to what is pictured above but with my own twist.  This actually made me wonder…what do people do with their sheds?

I know that many people leave them in a box in their garage or shed….while others use them as dog chews.  I mean, it doesn’t get more natural than that.  I, personally, just like seeing antlers and fur, so I try to keep my sheds everywhere I look or go in the house. They are spread out among all of the living space.  Antlers make some happy, as do mounts.  It is almost like some people using lemons for Zen stuff…or crystals or whatever…there are antlers and fur everywhere in our place, and I love it.  I probably wouldn’t be with my boyfriend if he had an issue with having antlers, fur and our mounts inside the house.  Actually, I know for a fact I wouldn’t. Lol

I also know some people who sell their sheds and some people who make things with sheds. Check out the Captain’s friend and fishing buddy Jim Swanson’s work at Antler Chandeliers and Lighting Company here: www.antlerchandeliers.com.

So, what do YOU do with your sheds?  Would you ever give the above shed shoulder mount buck a shot?
