There are many awesome things about Montana Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife (MTSFW), particularly the officers and directors, but without the members of this organization, MTSFW would not be so amazing.  If you don’t know much about MTSFW, here is a little big about this non-profit organization based in Montana.

Mission statements are important with sportsmen organizations, because you definitely want to know what you’re backing if you plan on joining or donating.  MTSFW’s mission statement reads:

To preserve, protect and enhance Montana’s hunting, fishing and trapping rights while protecting Montana’s rural heritage

Now, ranching, hunting, fishing and trapping are all things I, personally, stand behind, and I am proud to be a lifetime member of MTSFW.  They also have Executive Director, Jeff Darrah out there actively ensuring MTSFW is keeping on track with their Mission Statement and looking for new opportunities to support sportsmen and ranchers.  So, now you may be wondering how you can become a member.  Well, you can visit www.mt-sfw.org or talk to any officer or director, which are also listed on the website with their email addresses linked to their names.  In addition, if you see the MTSFW booth (with that beautiful wolf mount they include with the set-up) at any event–check for MTSFW at the upcoming Youth Conservation Expo at Teller Wildlife Refuge on May 7th–there is always somebody there who can get you set up.  Also, if you do it this week before the drawing this Saturday at their annual Pig Roast FUNdraiser, you can buy 10 raffle tickets for a 2021 Polaris Ranger side-by-side and get a free membership or membership renewal for one year.  It’s a pretty cool deal, as you get that many chances to win and are supporting a good cause.

You can also see what MTSFW is up to by following them on Facebook here or checking out their website at www.mt-sfw.org and clicking on their upcoming ‘news and events‘ tab.  However, I will state that the main point of this post, before I went on a rabbit trail about how awesome the people in this organization are and the incredible things they do for sportsmen, is to encourage you to attend their 12th Annual Pig Roast FUNdraiser this Saturday, April 23rd at 2:00pm at the Sanders County Fairgrounds in Plains.  It is a great time for the entire family, and they have the most amazing auction and raffle items.  To top it off, the kids get to fish in a trout pond, too!  I mean, eat some savory pork, be among some of the best of the best people AND support a great organization that fights for our rights as sportsmen?  Why wouldn’t you go?

So, mark your calendars, and get ready for the fun this weekend– you will be so glad you chose to go!
