Lake Elmo is rapidly refilling, and FWP is working to restock the lake. Hatchery staff planted about 50,000 two-inch rainbow trout this past week that will serve as food for other fish. Early next week, we plan to stock about 250 catchable Yellowstone cutthroat trout. And on Friday, May 13, we anticipate stocking juvenile and adult channel catfish, fathead minnows, and yellow perch. We also have a tentative date of May 16th for planting 4,800 catchable rainbow trout. Also, bluegill, largemouth bass, and some additional yellow perch could be planted in Lake Elmo by mid-June. We do not plan to stock tiger muskies for a couple years. We use tiger muskies to help control the suckers and carp that come in through the irrigation ditch and do not want to add them to the lake until the desirable sport fish populations are more established.
