In fishing news outside of Montana…

According to a press release by Jill Pritchard via the Missouri Department of Conservation, George Chance of Festus, Missouri, made waves by reeling in a record-breaking 97-pound bighead carp from the Mississippi River. Initially angling for catfish, Chance’s unexpected catch, hooked with a bottom-bouncing crankbait, turned out to be a world-record setter. Despite a challenging 20-minute battle, Chance triumphed, landing not only the state but also the world record for bighead carp caught with a pole-and-line. The catch underscores the importance of managing invasive species in Missouri waters and highlights ongoing conservation efforts.

What a catch!
