Grilled food is certainly tasty if the Grill master is planned and prepared. We have all gone to a cookout to discover that the grill is filthy, the utensils have been licked by the dogs, and the griller has one grilled outcome. BURNT!
Here are some common grilling concerns and ideas!
Unsanitary cooking surface Grill grates need to be cleaned after every use. There are many scrapers and brushes designed for this task. You can also remove the grate and clean it in a sink or dishwasher. Even a good blast from the garden hose helps. If the grate is covered in old rancid crusts, I will not eat any food prepared on them. A high temperature sterilization is also a good idea.
Out of propane the story is that we are ready to eat, and the grill has no fuel, the charcoal is wet, or the pellets are damp. Plan and have a backup tank.
Charcoal that is soaked in lighter fluid Pyromaniac grillers use presoaked charcoal or squirt a gallon of lighter fluid onto the coals. Now the smell of fuel is in everything.
Exposed, pet level utensils. If the dogs and cats aren’t licking insects and other critters will be attracted to dirty utensils.
Too much seasoning/spice is a signature of a lousy griller. You can always add more.
No way to measure the temperature is a tragic mistake. Undercooked meat and veggies can be dangerous and unhealthy. Always check the temperature of your food.
Unrefrigerated meat and condiments begin to rot. Cooking rotting food will make people sick.
Insects all over the food are a common concern. Keep the uncooked and served food covered. Flies and bees transfer germs and bacteria.
Grill your fresh fish and wild game. With a new hunting season coming up, clean out your freezer. Plan to use your hard-earned wild harvests. Complement them with fresh veggies from your garden.
Grilled foods can be wonderful, healthy, and tasty when done right. There are so many fun and instructional grilling videos on YouTube. Be a student of the grill and become a better and healthier chef!
