Canyon Ferry: Rainbows are being caught out from the Silos and towards the north point in 10-15 feet of water while using pink jigs and worms. Confederate to Duck Creek is producing rainbows, perch and walleyes in 10-30 feet of water. Gold or pink jigs tipped with a worm or mealworms worked best. An occasional burbot is being caught as well. There is 4-6 inches of ice from the Silos to the Ponds and 5-6 inches of ice around Confederate and Duck Creek. From White Earth to the dam is either open water or unstable ice. Troy Humphrey, FWP, Helena
Hauser: A few rainbows are being caught around the Causeway area while using set lines and jigs tipped with crawler pieces or maggots. Lake Helena has been producing some nice sized walleye and perch while using jigs and dead minnows or nightcrawlers. Lake Helena ice ranges from 4-5 inches, however there is still some open water showing in some places. The Causeway ice is 3-4 inches thick in spots but much less toward the middle near the current line. Most of the reservoir still has unstable ice condition and open water. Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
Holter: The Gates of the Mountains area on the upper end of the reservoir has developed a couple of inches of ice recently. Fishing has been slow due to the lack of safe ice fishing opportunities. Most of the reservoir including the lower end near the dam remains open water. Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
Helena Valley Regulating Reservoir: Kokanee fishing has been good, and a few larger fish are being caught while using Hali jigs or Swedish Pimples tipped with maggots in 25-40 feet of water. Early morning has been the most productive time to be out chasing kokanee. A few perch are being picked up while using the same equipment near the bottom. There is 5-7 inches of ice in some locations, open water can still be seen around the island. Chris Hurley, FWP, Helena
