The Swan River usually delivers some gorgeous rainbow trout, but a local 10-year-old completely stole the show before the rain clouds moved in. According to the young angler’s dad, Colten Hart of Bigfork, who posted the catches in a social media group, his son reeled in a near-record-sized pikeminnow (historically known as a squawfish) back on June 26th that had everybody doing a double-take.
It turns out you don’t need decades of angling experience to land a monster—just a rod and a little luck can give you some pretty cool bragging rights at the dinner table. Mother Nature might have cut the trip short with a downpour, but not before they hooked a memory that’s going to be tough to top!
Congratulations!
