Walleye- fish have moved out a little deeper for us the past week but were still pretty active. Bottom bouncers with crawlers worked well for the most part but we switched to pulling crankbaits late in the week and did very well. Salmo Freediver 12’s and Rapala tail dancer 11’s were the deal for us trolling in 25 to 35 FOW. Chrome, whites, and fire tiger colors were working the best
Smallmouth- found a lot of nice fish out on the deep edges of main points. The fish are feeding on a lot of 2” Cisco so anything that imitated that was catching a good share of the fish
Pike- They are just about anywhere you want to fish. Casting spoons or trolling crankbaits if you cover enough water you’ll bump into a good share of them. Lots of fish in system that are good eating size this year
In the past week, we’ve found that the Cisco must have had a very good spawn this spring, and there are big schools of small Cisco from 25-45 feet. Good news, considering the lack of it we’ve been seeing out in the basin areas this summer!
