Canyon Ferry:

South end continues to fish strong. The walleye seemed to have spread out more all the way from East to West. I am hearing good reports from Ponds 1, 2 and 3 to silos and up to hole in the wall. I would start at the 15’ mark and work deeper. I have caught walleye as deep as 30’ in the heat of summer. Bottom bouncing is still the hottest tackle of choice. Blues, purples, black/gold and any kind of fire tiger pattern are the colors of choice for most anglers. I recommend staying under 1.0mph. I have talked to a couple folks that have started seeing some success again mid lake. Mainly on the Goose Flats and Hellgate bay. Mainly bottom bouncing but if you have the electronics to hunt them with jigs that is quite effective too. Perch patterns are the safest bet but I have had success with electric shad or shad patterns as well. In the evenings the main lake points have produced some walleye as well as the occasional small mouth. Same jigs stated above. Cast up shallow and jig them back into deeper water.

Trout are still biting. Not quite as well as before with the hotter temps and they are moving to slightly cooler, deeper water. They are still relating to shorelines more than open water and staying within 60’ of water. Mostly suspended around 15’ down to 30’ of water. Deep diving crankbaits drug at 1.5mph to 2.5mph in fire tiger, blue tiger, silver or sometimes gold. Still mid lake to the dam but they seem to be narrowed down to hot spots rather than spread throughout. From shore, marabous, spinners and spoons are you best bet and mainly in the mornings and evenings. Silver, rainbow or gold patterns would be where I would start and adjust from there.
