HELENA – A proposed amendment for an item on the Aug. 19 Fish and Wildlife Commission meeting agenda is available for public review and comment online.
The amendment, proposed by Region 3 Commissioner Susan Kirby Brooke, would change the proposed Fall 2026–Winter 2027 Furbearer and Wolf Trapping and Hunting Seasons and Quotas as follows:
- In Region 3, reduce the bag limit to five wolves per licensed hunter.
- In Wolf Management Units 313 and 316, reduce the bag limit to one wolf per licensed hunter.

The commission will meet at the Montana Heritage Center in Helena (225 N. Roberts St.) and virtually via Zoom Aug. 19 at 8 a.m.
There are two ways to comment before the meeting – and these are the only options for submitting comments or documents prior to Aug. 19:
- Online portal (SurveyMonkey): Each agenda item includes a survey for submitting public comment. Letters and supporting documents may be attached to the survey.
- Mail: Send written comments to: Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission, c/o FWP Liaison – Director’s Office, P.O. Box 200701, Helena, MT 59620-0701.
Written comments on this amendment will be accepted through Aug. 12; comments will also be taken virtually during the meeting. To register to comment, click here by noon on Aug. 18.
