Bitterroot River Reopened from Wally Crawford to Angler’s Roost

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) is lifting the Bitterroot River closure, effective immediately, from Wally Crawford Fishing Access Site (FAS) to Angler’s Roost.

The river has been closed to all access since Tuesday due to the close proximity and immediate safety concerns related to the Roaring Lion Fire.

Officials say that although the fire is still active, it is not expected to reach the river, the road closures have been lifted in the immediate vicinity and fire crews are using others areas to fill buckets for aerial suppression efforts.

For up-to-date information on closures and restrictions related to drought and fire, visit fwp.mt.gov/news/restrictions/ or call the FWP office in Missoula at 406-542-5500.
