If you haven’t already filled your freezer with elk meat, it may be time to think of a backup plan. November 27th is the end of the general big game season and the start of the second annual antlerless elk shoulder season. Last year there were only a handful of districts open for the shoulder season, but this year 43 hunting districts are open in six regions. The regs differ in each and hunters need to know the difference. If you are falling into the meatless freezer category, head to the FWP website at http://fwp.mt.gov/ to get more information on how you can partake in the shoulder season and fill that freezer up!
