A lone hiker at Glacier National Park fell to his death, most likely slipping on snow on the Highline Trail, approximately a mile west of Logan Pass.  The park had not opened the trail yet due to the snow danger.

According to seattlepi.com, a ranger requested emergency assistance to dispatchers on Wednesday, June 26th, between 3:30pm and 4pm.  The man died after resuscitation measures were attempted.

The 64 year-old man’s name is being withheld until the family can be notified, and the accident is still being investigated.

Please be careful out there, hikers, and keep in mind that if a trail is closed, there is probably a reason, so be aware of trail closures.
