The world is full of bodies of water. As you may know, the planet is called “The Blue Planet” for a reason. With so much water, fresh and salty, small and large, there’s plenty of places to fish for big ones, small ones, and scary looking ones too! The pacific northwest is a great place to fish, we all know. Let’s take a virtual trip across the globe, and explore some amazing places to catch exotic fish. If you’re planning a fishing trip, this is a good place to start! Let Krawdaddy lead the way.

TANZANIA –  AFRICA

One of the best exotic fishing locations, according to The Travel, is Tanzania in Africa. WIth both the Mnyera River and the Ruhudji River, the options for fishing are amazing. Tigerfish, one of the most commonly caught fish, can weigh over 20 pounds. They’re known for being territorial and aggressive, however, so use caution and know that not every fisherman will walk away a champion. Flyfishing is also an option, but can be significantly more challenging.

LAKE KARIBA – ZIMBABWE AND ZAMBIA

Man-made and straddling the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia, Lake Kariba houses small sardine fish that allowed the lake to create a fishing trade. There’s also Tigerfish in this lake, and due to the easy prey of the Sardines, Tigerfish can grow up to 60 pounds with piranha like sharp teeth. This makes the lake a fisherman’s dream, as well as an exciting and challenging adventure for anyone who dares fish it.

KIRITIMATI – SOUTH OF HAWAII

Also known as Christmas Island, this remote and isolated location is an amazing place to land a mako shark or a yellowfin tuna. Unlike any other location on Earth, this coral formed island allows for incredible views unlike anywhere else in the world, and incredible fishing.

THE JUNGLES OF BOLIVIA – SOUTH AMERICA

To find a rare and stunning golden dorado fish, these jungles are the perfect place to fish. The four rivers running through are the Secure, the Aguas Negras, the Pluma, and the Itizirama. The fish in these rivers are rare, and so it may be a difficult catch. However, the experience itself is worth it, and if you’re very skilled and very lucky, you’ll be able to add a golden dorado to your collection of fish.

HAIDA GWAII – CANADA

North in Canada, this island provides shelter and optimal breeding conditions for many different kinds of fish. Chinook salmon is the main pull for fisherman, but there’s plenty of exotic fishing from June to September. The salmon can weigh up to 30 pounds, and these are caught on a weekly basis, so you’re almost guaranteed a victory from this location. This place is even referred to as the Galapagos of the North.

These are just a few of the incredible options for exotic fishing available! If you’re big into travel and into fishing across the globe, these are good places to start. As always, be sure to check with local guides, and educate yourself on the area and customs of each country. Happy fishing and best of luck!!
