Personal Use Post and Pole Permits Available for the Beartooth Ranger District

Red Lodge, MT – March 23, 2023 –The Beartooth Ranger District, Custer Gallatin National Forest is accepting appointments for 15 Personal Use Post and Pole Permits starting March 23rd at 8:00am, on a first come first served basis.

Personal use post and pole collection units are located in the West Fork Rock Creek, Red Lodge Creek, Silver Run, and West Rosebud Creek drainages. The cost for 75 trees or less is $20 and the cost for 100 trees or less is $40. A limited number of permits will be available in each drainage. Permits will be for cutting trees up to 6” in diameter, during the months of May and June only.

Interested individuals should contact the Beartooth Ranger District beginning on March 23rd for scheduling an appointment; permits will then be sold and issued in person or by mail. To schedule an appointment, individuals can utilize the following numbers:

Booking a permit appointment is competitive. Permits will allow 60 days for removal of post and poles, during May and June, with no extensions or refunds.
