When it gets hot, you need to find some ways to beat the heat. Humans are simply bags of water that need to be kept at an optimal level. Sweating and hot conditions quickly lower the body’s water pressure. Heat stroke and fainting follow. A constant replenishment of water is essential to keeping our bodies filled to the brim.

Here are several ways to Beat the Heat!

HYDRATE    Drink your as- off! Water, sports drinks, water is best, just drink it. Alcohol is not helpful. Keep the booze on the light side. Room temperature is best, but a cold beverage sure feels and tastes better.

MIST SPRAYERS    Misting systems can be installed on boats or with handheld spray bottles. Some even have battery fans on them.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS   If you want to be cool, dress to be cool. Light garments that block the sun and dry quickly. If you are exposing more skin, think suntan lotion.

WET BANDANNAS    Tying a wet bandanna around your neck feels nice. You can also dip your hat into the water and put it onto your head.

COOLING TOWELS    Keep a few folded, damp, towels in the freezer or ice chest. Instant cool!

SPLASH    Swim, spray, hose down, stay wet and happy.

DON’T PIG OUT!    The more you eat the hotter you will get. Heavy food on a hot day does not mix well.

MADE IN THE SHADE    If you are in the direct sun, it’s no fun. Use an umbrella, Bimini top on the boat, or just stay in some shade.

WIND, PLEASE    Stay cool by being where there is a breeze. The airflow is cooling.

Go with the flow and stay cool. In Montana, it will be snowing soon!
